One of the issues with modular synths is the dc power distribution. There are a number of solutions available but we at Soundtronics decided on these connectors. They consist of two parts, the plug and socket this being the 10A rated chassis mount socket (plug housing with male pins). This socket consists of a 3-way screw terminal connector which you can mount local to each synth module. We suggest wiring all of the connectors on a row together using 1mm2 cable. Each screw terminal will accept two 1mm2 cables twisted together for power in/out although an improved solution is to use dual bootlace ferrules. The power cables from each row of modules are commoned together before going to the power supply. We suggest using the following colour code:
- Black: -12V
- Green: 0V
- Red: +12V
Naturally the same code applies if you are using +/- 15V
Size: 20.5mm wide x 36mm overall length including mounting tabs. Fiz to chassis with M3 / 3mm screws.
We will be publishing more on this wiring arrangement soon.
