YuSynth Simple VCA AC/DC Module
The VCA is one of the core modules in an analogue synth. This very simple VCA is based on the one Yves used in his US1 modular. It has proven to be very efficient. At first glance it looks like a classical cascode circuit, but the current sink (Q3) is not mounted in series with the emitters of the differential pair Q1-Q2.
There are two versions - AC & DC but both use the same PCB.
- AC version, C3 & C4 are required, P1, P2 and P3 must be log pots;
- DC version, C3 & C4 must be omitted and replaced by use wire links, P1, P2 and P3 must be lin pots
The current draw of this module is quite low : 5mA from the +15V rail and 4mA from the -15V rail.
We all have our preferences when it comes to building our modular synth so we offer a range of products* for the build:
- PCB
- Individual components
- Kit of parts (excluding PCB, knobs and connectors)
- Knobs (Cliff KM20B)
- Jack sockets
- Power connectors
- Front Panel
- Back Panel
- PCB Holder
- PCB Holder Brackets
- Panel PCBs
- Wiring Leads
*Not all products are available at the time of writing but are in development
For the latest build information, we recommend visiting the YuSynth website at http://www.yusynth.net/Modular/index_en.html
However, we also include this build information in our product pages plus additional details relating to the complete module assembly using our front panel solution as they are developed.
